บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย :

This research evaluated the potential of prebiotics and probiotics as feed additive to improve nutrient digestibility, water quality and fish health. The first part of the project screened prebiotics and probiotics that are commonly used in the aquaculture of other fish species while the second part determination the optimum dose of selected probiotic and prebiotic to be used in commercial feed. The project answers the following issues; 1) If prebiotics and probiotics are capable of improving nutrient digestibility, enhance growth and health status of fish 2) If response is affected by dose and if so determine the dose response which will be earmarked to formulate the appropriate feed for patin 3) If, based on the premise that prebiotics and probiotics can influence protein digestibility, then can fish meal protein can be fully replaced with soybean protein in patin feeds. Based on the results of all the studies, it can be concluded that supplementation with 10 5 CFU/g of LAB and 0.6% MaS is sufficient to improve growth and health status of juvenile striped catfish when they were exposed to A. hydrophila CT19. Further, 45% of FM can be successfully replaced with SBM without any adverse effect on diet digestibility and growth but the health status of striped catfish improved by the supplementation with LAB or MOS.
